More than a design fair, IDS Vancouver is comprised of community-minded programming that aims to foster design-thinking inclusively in people of all ages, pursuits, genders and ethnicities. In collaboration with the Consulate General of the Netherlands, we’re proud to present “Moving Textiles,” an experimental workshop that results in a thought-provoking onsite installation igniting creativity and imagination in the Pacific Northwest’s next generation of designers.
With an unyielding affinity for the design process rather than the end product, Netherlands-based design collective Envisions was introduced to the Product Design faculty and student at the Wilson School of Design, Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Triggering all the senses with a hands-on and experimental week-long process that unlocked newfound possibilities when combining wind with textiles, these experimental products in process will be thoughtfully installed onsite at IDS Vancouver.

Envisions is a Netherlands-based collective that showcases everything but the end product. Aiming to overthrow the usual boundaries in the design field, the collective base their working method on an unyielding affinity for the design process. With a keen eye for new opportunities, the team strive to collaborate with companies that are interested in expanding the possibilities of their product and their conventional way of working.
Envisions has installed impactful and thoughtful installations in Milan, London and Eindhoven at Dutch Design Week. Their members reinvent, reconsider and re-purpose off cuts, raw materials and by products from a diverse range of international companies.
