THE MIX is a brand new program for IDS Vancouver 2017 that includes displays, installations and talks both onsite and off. Thanks to the generous support from the Consulate to the Netherlands and the programs media partner, FRAME Magazine, three relevant, leading Netherlands-based designers have been paired with three celebrated, established Vancouver creators. These pairs will exhibit side by side on centre aisle at IDS Vancouver and take part in offsite conversations hosted by FRAME Minds at the Vancouver-based designers’ and artists’ studios. This program is curated by Burgers Architecture Inc.
Shuttle service to and from the Vancouver Convention Centre will be provided on Saturday and Sunday for these talks.
FRAME Minds: Brent Comber + OS & OOS
North Vancouver-based designer Brent Comber and Eindhoven-based design duo Oskar Peet and Sophie Mensen of Studio OS & OOS will discuss the similarities and differences in their materials and why where they live and work may influence how and what they create.
FRAME Minds: Bobbie Burgers + Studio RENS
North Vancouver-based artist Bobbie Burgers will discuss with Eindhoven-based designers Stefanie van Keijsteren and Renee Menen of Studio RENS the similarities and differences in their creative process, their materials, and how they approach and are influenced by colour.
FRAME Minds: Martha Sturdy + Sabine Marcelis
Vancouver-based artist Martha Sturdy and Rotterdam-based designer Sabine Marcelis will discuss the relationship between light and material, what influences the materials they use, the qualities of those materials and the objects they create.
